Hesperiidae Hesperiinae Hesperia comma Pelopidas thrax
Ochlodes sylvanus (Esper, 1777)
Large Skipper
Sylvaine

Genus: Ochlodes Scudder, 1872   Original genus: Papilio Linnaeus, 1758

Synonims (species):
   faunus Turati, 1905
   venata Bremer et Grey, 1853

It appears that what has been called O. venata (Bremer et Grey, 1853) is actually O. sylvanus (Esper, [1778]) (or O. faunus Turati, 1905). And the real O. venata does not occur in Europe (but only in Russian Far East. Type Locality: "environs de Pekin" [Beijing, China])
