Saturniidae Saturniinae Saturniini Antheraea (Antheraea) yamamai Saturnia (Eudia) pavoniella
Saturnia (Eudia) pavonia (Linnaeus, 1758)
Emperor Moth
Petit Paon de nuit

Genus: Saturnia Schrank, 1802   Subgenus: Eudia Seitz, 1911   Original genus: Phalaena Linnaeus, 1758

This species has been separated from Saturnia (Eudia) pavoniella (Scopoli, 1763) by Huemer & Nässig (2003) for several reasons, particularly because of F1 hybrid infertility (of females and of most males) between the two, consistent differences in wing markings and differences in genitalial morphology
